I. AM. BLIND.

I. HAVE. SEEN. THE. GRAIL. i touched the grail. i touched 2 grails. a grail was held in my hands. i smelled the grail. the grail was felt right the eff up by me. (fixie, it might've even been yours.)

O.M.G.

there are no days of the week now. only time until your bike arrives to you. time is not even the appropriate concept. there is a black hole of continuum between now and then.

prepare yourself, no matter what the color. no, nevermind. you cannot prepare yourself.

prepare your loved ones for your going away for a while. your happy place is nigh.

now i understand... i understand ELEVEN.

Alrighty Then! No more fondling of the Surprise Me! Single Speed. My soul has been tortured and my very essence has been stripped down to the bare nothingness of cyclocross zen.

I must make my final preparations in the time/space between now and then. I beg you not to tell me any more and let my imagination take me as close as it can to the wonderous Surprise Me! YEAH BABY YEAH!!!!!

Andy/Fixie, when are you picking yours up? If mine ships Wednesday, It might be here by Friday.

Andy Askren said...

Sacha said words to me about the timing but I swear I can't remember them. Like when a mortar goes off near you and the world slows down in a silent, glue-y, Saving Private Ryan sort of way?

I think I might be able to pick mine up Friday. I think.

Whenever you get yours SHOOT THE WHOLE PROCESS OF UNPACKING... better yet, HAVE SOMEONE TAPE YOU (and your reaction)! I think that stuff's gonna be gold.

I'm hoping for Thursday. Sacha's email to me said that my Vagen would be ready on Wednesday. I am just waiting for confirmation back from him that Thursday is OK to pick up my new ride. I told my boss today that I would need to take Thursday afternoon off to pick up the Speedvagen. I'm not sure he comprehends going to 11....

are we there yet? i'd much rather lose sleep tonite over an actual tangible object instead of just the churn of imagining one. i cannot go by vanilla again cause i really don't want to go down that 'restraining order' path. "but your honor, dude, it's, it's a speedvagen." 5:20 pm pacific time. do i dare walk away from my email? my phone? how do these things arrive? does it just appear under a bush? materialize in the shower? what?

Yo! Andy, TJH

I just got home from Portland. The Speedvagen arrives via magic. One moment you are standing there with nothing and the next you are square in the path of eleven!

The ride is perfect and Surprise Me! was indeed a surprise. I took a spin with Sacha, got pictures and all that good stuff. I'm sure that you will be experiencing eleveness real soon too.

I will be posting a few photos to fixierider.blogspot.com in just a few minutes...

GOD BLESS AMERICA! Awesome fixie! post it here! Talked to Sacha last night. If I was single, I'd be driving to Redding to meet him as we speak. Instead, I must be patient. It ships today w/ arrival at my office on Tuesday. I shall then promptly faint, thereby necessitating a short sick leave. I'm sure upon arriving home, I shall experience a miraculous and complete recovery due of course to the magical powers of the unicorn. I shall then commence the build.

Hey Andy,

Now that I am beginning to come out of my Speedvagen enduced trance I've got to tell you.

When I was talking with one of the guys at Vanilla about the Surprise Me! color I mentioned your blog (not by name) and he immediately knew who I was talking about. You might want to line up some legal representation. You know, just in case you get hit with that restraining order. :-)

If you had dropped by around 5:30 last night you probably would have run into me chillin with Sacha and trying to maintain my composure...

Now I am conflicted - do I simply stare at my wonderous new bike and keep it spotlessly clean or go out and race the you know what out of it. Cuz, I could do either one right now.

Fixie-- was it Kevin you were talking to?? That would be our pal K-Murder!

I went to pick up my frameset tonite after work and he was there with Scott building up his gray Vagen. Super sweet.

I'll get pics up of mine tomorrow. It is something to behold, this. TJH you are gonna freak.

I'm stoked to build mine so I can spend more time on all those sexy sexy curves! Then its off to the races on Sunday morning! She aint gonna be clean for long.

Andy,

I didn't catch the guys name. It could have been K-Murder. It wasn't Scott. I defintely got his name and my wife chatted with him while Sacha and I went out for a test ride.

How was your race? I think you got the honor of being the first to race your Speedvagen. The next Seattle race isn't until this coming Sunday, the 14th.

Andy Askren said...

Ah the race was awesome! Conditions were perfect fall day, no real mud, nice fast course (though not the most interesting-- my favorite is next weekend!) I did better than my usual suckiness and I must say, for having built the bike up the nite before and having only ridden it around the block before racing it the next day, it was dialed. I ran a 100 stem on it and need a 110, but that's about all I'd change.

I *think* I saw K Murder scoping out the course, and I did see one other Surprise Me Vagen warming up for what must have been A's. But yes, racing C's probably gave me the "honor" of being the first to break in my rig. I freakin loved it.

It was super wild to see how many people double-take on that bike. "Ooooh, Speedvagen!" You'll hear a lot of that! Good to see so many people plugged into Sacha's latest and greatest.

I have a feeling there'll be a Ridley Supercross frameset coming up for sale pretty shortly here... size 56cm. Super deal. Just for you. ;-)
